Getting started

Use with AI agents

Read, explain, and operate tentaflake with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and coding agents through Markdown pages, llms.txt, and installable skills.

Explain this page
Markdown

This documentation is published for two kinds of readers: people, and the assistants and coding agents that work for them. Everything an agent needs is plain text at a predictable URL.

Every page has an Explain this page menu under its title, and every chapter heading has a smaller Explain menu. Both open a new chat in the assistant you pick, with a prompt that points at the Markdown version of that page and asks the assistant to stay within it.

Assistant What the link does
Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Le Chat, Grok Opens a new chat with the prompt already filled in
Gemini Copies the prompt, then opens Gemini; paste it to start

Copy prompt gives you the same text for any other assistant. Copy page as Markdown puts the whole page on your clipboard for tools that cannot browse.

Resource URL Use it for
Documentation index /llms.txt A short map of every page with a one-line description
Complete documentation /llms-full.txt One file with every page, for a single fetch
Markdown twin Any page URL with .md instead of the trailing slash The exact text of one page, for example /getting-started/quickstart.md
Skill index /.well-known/agent-skills/index.json Discovering the skills this site publishes

Each HTML page also announces its Markdown twin with a <link rel="alternate" type="text/markdown"> element.

Give your coding agent the tentaflake skill

Section titled “Give your coding agent the tentaflake skill”

A skill is a short instruction file an agent loads when a task matches it. The tentaflake skill teaches an agent where the documentation lives, how to read it, and which operations it must leave to you.

Install it with the open skills CLI, which supports Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and many other agents:

Terminal window
npx skills add \
https://docs.tentaflake.dev/.well-known/agent-skills/tentaflake/SKILL.md

Or save the file yourself. Claude Code reads project skills from .claude/skills/; Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI read .agents/skills/:

Terminal window
mkdir -p .claude/skills/tentaflake
curl -fsSL -o .claude/skills/tentaflake/SKILL.md \
https://docs.tentaflake.dev/.well-known/agent-skills/tentaflake/SKILL.md

Read the file before you install it, as you would any instruction you hand to an agent. The skill index publishes a SHA-256 digest for it.

The tentaflake repository also bundles operator and Hermes skills in .agents/skills/. They are listed in the skill index.

Paste one of these into a coding agent that can fetch URLs.

Plan an installation:

Read https://docs.tentaflake.dev/llms.txt, then the install guide and the
secure quickstart it links to. Ask me about my hardware and whether this is a
new machine or an existing NixOS host. Then write a step-by-step plan.
Do not run any command that formats a disk or activates a configuration.

Review a configuration:

Read https://docs.tentaflake.dev/security/profiles.md and
https://docs.tentaflake.dev/security/threat-model.md. Review the Nix files in
this directory against the balanced profile. List each finding with the
documentation section it comes from, and mark anything you could not verify.

The quickstart separates building a configuration from activating it, and that separation applies to agents as well. Reading, planning, evaluation, and a non-activating nix build are reasonable to delegate. Writing an installer image to a disk, nixos-rebuild switch, and anything that touches credentials are decisions for the operator.
